British Wheelchair Basketball - International Event

This July the GB men’s and women’s teams will be welcoming teams from across the globe to the English Institute of Sport, Sheffield as they prepare for the World Championships.

We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers aged 14 years and over to support the delivery of this tournament which takes place from Monday 2nd July to Friday 6th July. Experience isn’t necessary as an induction will be given to the roles.

A number of roles are available including:

Court Manager – Looking after the match and training courts, ensuring the event runs smoothly.

Court Services – Looking after the match and training courts. Moving equipment and chairs to and from courts. Distributing and collecting balls.

Event Services – Managing team requests and communication between the event organiser and teams.

Team Liaison – Support teams to ensure they have everything the need in order to compete. Liaise with event organiser and teams to ensure information is passed on.

Steward – Check spectator tickets and ensure corridors remain clear.

DJ – Play music during game intervals. Play National Anthems.

Shop – Selling merchandise and tickets.

Volunteer Basketball Coach – Leeds City College

Our college basketball programme is growing! We seek an enthusiastic and reliable individual with a love for basketball to join our team on a voluntary basis. Duties include;

  • Shadowing the Head Coach during training sessions
  • Assisting the Head Coach on Match Days
  • Assisting with the setting up and packing away of equipment for home games
  • Regular liaison with the Sports Officer to identify opportunities to develop the basketball programme

This opportunity will be available up until the end of May with the potential for further opportunities, including CPD and personal development. Applicants will need to be available on Wednesday afternoons for match days and Thursday evenings for training 16.30-18.00. This is a great opportunity to work with a fantastic group of players and coach, whilst increasing your own coaching experience in the process.
