GB Men await final Olympic group opponent
The final Olympic Games group opponent for GB Men will be confirmed this week in the Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Venezuela.
The tournament in Caracas will finish on July 8 with and will decide the final 3 teams to make up the Olympic tournament.
Twelve teams will gather in Venezuela, having been drawn into four groups of three. They will each play two group games and the top two teams in each group (likely to be any team that wins at least one game) will progress to the quarter finals.
Similarily to the Women's Qualifying Tournament there is no requirement to produce a winner, just three teams to qualify for the Games. The four quarter final winners will meet in semi-finals, with the two semi final winners claiming a spot in London later in the month. The two semi final losers will clash in the final game to decide the last spot.
Upon completion of the tournament the qualifying teams will be drawn into spots in the group stage of the Olympic competition, with GB waiting to find out the identity of their final group opponents.
All of the action will be available to watch on FIBATV.com - although a subscription will be required. The results and standings can be followed at london2012.fiba.com.
