3x3 Nations League: GB U23s face a tough test in France - squads, fixtures & schedules

The Great Britain U23 teams head into their second block of 3x3 Nations League action in France next week against top-class opposition.

The men, led by coach Krumesh Patel, will face France, Spain, Israel and the Netherlands across three stops of the tour, which will take place in a ‘bubble’ in Voiron between August 2-4.

The women, led by coach Kenrick Liburd, take on the USA, France, Israel and the Netherlands in their three rounds of fixtures.

The men’s squad has no changes to the group that was announced earlier this month.

For the women, Katie Bennett steps up to replace Abby Lowe because of Covid protocols.

BE x GB collaboration

Both teams were part of the three-stop ‘bubble’ event in Israel last month. They have been entered as part of a collaboration between Great Britain Basketball and Basketball England to help prepare Team England players for next year’s Commonwealth Games and set about improving the GB national teams’ 3x3 rankings.

Both teams managed to grab wins against stiff competition in their first 3x3 outings and Basketball England Head of Talent and Performance Steve Bucknall – responsible for overseeing the GB/BE 3x3 programme - said: “We learnt a lot as an organisation, as coaches and as players from the experience in Israel and from the seniors’ Europe Cup campaign in Romania, when the women qualified for the Finals.

“We will take that into this next challenge to be better prepared as we continue to build the programme with the view to improving the GB 3x3 federation rankings and preparing Team England for the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham next year.”

The teams will again wear the logo of Basketball England’s #ProjectSwish on their shorts.

How to watch

The games will be streamed live on the FIBA 3x3 YouTube channel and the Basketball England Facebook page.
