Roster named for FIBA U16 Women European Championship

Twelve players have been named by Head Coach Matthew Harber for Great Britain’s inaugural team at the FIBA U16 Women European Championship, which takes place in Macedonia later this month.

There are four returning players from last year’s Championships, with one of those, Oaklands Wolves’ Loren Christie being named captain. Ipswich’s Esther Little, West Bromwich Albion’s Lauren Saa and Manchester Mystics’ Ashana Hinds are the others.

Overall, there are three inclusions from the Mystics programme, with Rebecca Harwood-Bellis and Khia Lee making their debuts in FIBA competition at this level.  Pollyanna Storie represents the City of Edinburgh, while Southend Swifts’ Katie Bennett and Nottingham Wildcats’ Brahe Ashton come into the backcourt.

Further forward, Mia Sarkodee-Adoo, Jade Guidolin Duncan and Alexandra Baker make up the rest of the group.

Britain begin their challenge in Skopje on Thursday August 17th, when they face Denmark (1530 BST). Further games in Group D follow against Albania, Switzerland, Slovakia and Bosnia-Herzegovina.

All games will be streamed live via British Basketball’s Facebook page.
