The Aviva Community Fund offers clubs, organisations and groups the opportunity to get funding for important causes in the community. As the fund is open to everyone, that includes basketball clubs and some of our teams have wasted no time in putting themselves forward for selection. Applications opened in early September 2017 and this is the third year the fund has run for. Last year the fund saw over 3,900 applications and awarded money to over 800 separate projects.
There are 17 different basketball related projects that have been included in 2017. Projects require votes from the general public to make sure they are considered for the level of funding they are after, so the basketball community needs your help. By casting votes to support these projects, you can help them receive valuable funding. Each person receives 10 votes to cast across as many or as few projects as they wish. It could be 1 vote for 10 projects, or 10 votes for just 1 project, the choice is yours.
Because the projects and groups applying for funding can vary significantly in size, the overall fund is split into 4 level of awards. There are 380 awards of up to £1,000. 40 of up to £5,000, 20 of up to £10,000 and 8 of up to £25,000. That way a wide range of people can put themselves forward for part of the fund, no matter the scope of their project.
The projects that receive the most votes will be awarded the funding they applied for. Voting closes at midday on 21st November. To vote, head over to the Aviva Community Fund by clicking HERE. To vote, all you need to do is register on the site, and then you’ll be able to vote on any project you like the look of.
