Basketball England announce Under 15 Squads

Basketball England is delighted to announce the list of players selected for consideration for the England Under 15 girls and boys squads.

The National Camps will take place on 15 April and 20 May 2018, with the boys divided into two groups for sessions in Manchester, Lancashire and Wokingham, Berkshire and all Under 15 girls will be training together in Cranleigh, Surrey.

Sessions will take place at the same time as the Regional Performance Centre (RPC) programmes, an approach that will allow Basketball England the opportunity to test innovative ways of integrating different levels of the player pathway. Moving forward this will become a key consideration across all programmes within the Talent System.

Under 15 Boys Head Coach Manuel Pena Garces said, “I think that it´s great to mix the RPC platform with the Under 15 National Camps. We will be able to have more contact in the latter parts of the season with all players that we have been following. I have to thank all the coaches that have been in contact with me in the recent weeks and months and I hope all players selected get a lot from this experience. I´m really positive about the work we are doing and really looking forward to the upcoming Camps.”

Under 15 Girls Head Coach Cristina Stanciuca echoed Manuel’s sentiments, “It’s an exciting time for this year’s programme. Together with all RPC coaches we have identified the best players in each region for this age group and we aim to create a platform where those players can grow both on the court as well as off it. We’re working hard to create an environment that will inspire these young players to achieve great things in the Talent Pathway, and the link between the RPCs and Under 15 National Camps will do that."

Basketball England Board Member Steve Bucknall said, “By integrating the potential England U15 talent pool into the RPC programme, it will provide a great opportunity to engage and support our talent pathway players at an early age. We wish all the young players well on the beginning of their exciting sporting journey.”

At present, England Under 17 activity is on hold and a further communication will be released in the coming weeks. Great Britain Under 16, Under 18 & Under 20 squads, staff and preparation activity for the summer’s European Championships will be confirmed shortly by Great Britain Basketball.
