Basketball England have appointed staff to continue to support basketball's growth across the country.
The organisation has added a new Relationship and Co-ordination Manager, All Girls campaign Co-ordinator, Project Delivery Officer and named a new NW Regional chair.
Relationship and Co-ordination Manager (West Midlands and South West) Samuel Lewis joins the team following years spent working at Coventry University, where he organised and supported sports teams. He has a lifelong interest in basketball – particularly the wheelchair discipline.
The new role will support the regional committees across the two regions, offering support to clubs, leagues or partners within the sport. Sam will also play a key role in rolling out and developing a number of initiatives to help grow the number of people playing basketball from different backgrounds.
All Girls Co-ordinator Fiona Murray joins the team after being president of the Athletic Union at St Andrews University. She has a lifelong passion for basketball, having played for many years in Scotland.
Fiona will support the All Girls campaign and its network of ambassadors to help women and girls develop a love for basketball and start playing the game.
Project Delivery Officer Mark Cordeaux has spent the past year servicing the wider basketball community as part of the Basketball England customer service team and is moving into a project management role. He will support Slam Jam, Basketball England’s introduction to basketball for 7-11-year-olds, amongst other projects.
Customer Service Executive Bethan John joins the team full time, having graduated from the University of Liverpool and working temporarily for Basketball England since September. After helping with the registration process on our new membership portal, Bethan will now focus on the membership process within the team.
Marketing Executive Mark Jones joins us having spent the last three years in sport and general marketing roles. Having graduated in Sports Journalism at the University of Central Lancashire, Mark has worked for Shrewsbury Town Football Club and NPTC Group of Colleges before taking up his role with Basketball England towards the end of 2019.
In addition to the full-time roles, Basketball England have also recruited a new voluntary regional chair for the North West in Kate Lewis who will reform the regional committee to support local activity and form part of the national governance chain.
