The countdown to the next British Basketball League (BBL) season has officially begun with the release of the fixtures and competition systems for 2018-19.
The upcoming campaign will tip-off on Friday, 21 September with four BBL Championship fixtures including an immediate return to Worcester for Paul James with his new side, Plymouth Raiders.
24 hours later, the league’s newest franchise, London City Royals, make their debut away at Bristol Flyers, while the Royals will also be the first opponents of Leicester Riders’ title defence in October.
The regular season will run until the final weekend of April with 10 teams set for action on the final day ahead of the Play-Offs with the finale held at London’s O2 Arena for the sixth successive year on 19 May.
Towards the start of 2019, the Barclaycard Arena hosts the BBL Cup Final on 27 January with the BBL Trophy Final held at Glasgow’s Emirates Arena on 10 March for the seventh year in a row with all three Finals coupled with the WBBL.
Last season’s top 4 teams in the BBL Championship receive a bye to the Quarter-Finals. The 8 remaining BBL teams will take part in Round 1 with an open draw conducted at each stage of the competition.
