British Basketball announce players selected for GB 3x3 squads

The first GB Under 18 3x3 squads have been announced after an outstanding series of training camps and team building. British Basketball is now pleased to announce the list of players selected for the GB National U18 3x3 Men’s and Women’s Squads, ahead of the FIBA U18 3x3 Europe Cup 2017 Qualifiers. Players from the greater GB U18 programme and new players highlighted by elite level coaches, attended a number of camps over the past 5 weeks at the University of Worcester. The University provided outstanding facilities and services on a partnership basis, to help make the GB U18 3x3 programme a reality, under tight timeframes.

The GB U18 Men go to Hungary for their tournament, while the U18 Women go to Latvia. Both tournaments are over 5-6 August.

British Basketball Chief Executive, Lisa Wainwright, commented “We are delighted to be able to give our U18 players another opportunity to represent Great Britain on the European stage. It is an exciting time for the 3x3 discipline, with the International Olympic Committee recently confirming 3x3 Basketball as an Olympic sport for Tokyo 2020 and, hopefully, for future Olympiads. Playing for the GB U18 3x3 teams this summer could be the first step along a path that may end in Olympic participation for these players.”
