Talking about the preparation games Dan Clark said “We’ve got good preparation time and we’re ready to go! There will be some tough opponents, in particular Greece, having had such strong successes, particularly in past EuroBasket tournaments”.
Clark was cautious, but optimistic about Great Britain’s chances in Istanbul “It’s well documented that our group will be difficult and it’s a tough tournament. The depth of teams in Europe is very strong, however the team and I are really looking forward to it. We’re prepared and we’ve been working with Joe (Prunty) for a while now and could bring up a few surprises”
EuroBasket 2017 will see four groups staged in Turkey, Finland, Romania and Israel, with the knockout phases taking place in Istanbul’s Sinan Erdem Dome and culminating in the FIBA EuroBasket Final on Sunday September 17.
Great Britain, led by experienced NBA coach Joe Prunty, will feature in Group D which is being staged in Istanbul. Co-host Turkey, 2016 Olympic silver medallists Serbia, 2011 bronze medallists Russia, Latvia and Belgium provide the opposition, with the Belgians up first for GB on Friday September 1.
