Great Britain Under 16 Men final 12 confirmed

Great Britain Under 16 Men's Head Coach James Vear has confirmed his party of 12 for the FIBA Under 16 European Championship Division B, which begins in Sarajevo later this week.

After Sunday’s final prep game against France at the UEL Sportsdock, Vear has gone for the familiar and new.

Former Ipswich shooting guard Veron Eze and Olawesgun Shodunke, once Kent Crusader now plying his trade in Spain, continue for a second year at this level, while up and coming London talent gets its moment with the selection of Haringey Hawks’ Alex Distras, who is joined by London Thunder Lewisham duo Malachi Boayke-Yiadom and Josh Uduje.

Daijuan Antonio who has enjoyed a season in Italy with Trieste and Reading Rockets’ centre Matt Marsh – who joins Barcelona next season – are included along with Manchester represented by Magic forward Saul May and Giants’ Victor Faroukou.

Also heading to the tournament are Sussex Storm guard Cameron Hildreth, Northamptonshire Titans’ Sam Grant, and Mansfield Giants' Amari Williams.

Coach Vear said, “I am looking forward to seeing this team in action and hope they can use the opportunity to develop at this level.”

GB play their opening game against Ireland on August 9th, with four more group games to come in the tournament.
