Basketball England’s Director of Governance, Risk and Compliance, Melissa Hague has been nominated for an award at the upcoming Women in Compliance Awards.
Under the category “Small Business”, Melissa has been nominated alongside 4 other UK based women for her tireless work in compliance over a number of years. This is also the first time a woman from a sporting organisation has been nominated for the award, an honour in itself.
“I feel very humbled and honoured to be shortlisted with the other dedicated, professional women in compliance from companies around the globe,” said Melissa. “To see basketball on the list is a major achievement in itself. Sport Compliance is such a complex and encompassing role. Having sport shortlisted paves the way for the talented, future generations of women in sport. It opens the door and breaks down barriers. I for one can’t wait to see who comes next!”
The awards are held on 22 March 2018 at the Sheraton Grand London Park Lane Hotel, so there isn’t long to wait to see if Melissa has been successful in winning an award.
Basketball England Vice-Chair Grace Jacca said, “We are delighted that Melissa has been placed onto the shortlist of nominations for this award. Basketball finds itself nominated amongst some big industry names; all recognition is a triumph for basketball. Our sport is both diverse and inclusive therefore the acknowledgement is important and demonstrates where basketball can go from here. The Basketball England team and the Board of Directors are extremely proud of this accomplishment. We offer our heartfelt congratulations to Melissa and wish her good luck on the 22nd March!"
