Solent Kestrels did the NBL proud with their performance in the BBL Trophy final - but were denied the silverware in overtime in Glasgow.
Newcastle Eagles recorded a 96-94 victory without three of their overseas players, who had returned home amid the coronavirus outbreak.
Regulation time finished 87-87 apiece as the Kestrels came from 10 points down to tie the game with a late, late Trayvon Wright dunk.
The first three quarters had been nip and tuck with Solent - the only NBL side in action this weekend following Basketball England's suspension of activities - giving an impressive account of themselves against the top league's big guns.
But the NBL1 leaders and National Cup holders could not add to their trophy haul as the Eagles racked up another top-level win.
CJ Gettys was named MVP for his 21-point,17-rebound performance while Rahmon Fletcher showed his class with 29 points for the winners.
Elliot Sentance had 26 for Solent with Travis Charles contributing 18 and 10 rebounds and Ian Smith hitting 18.
Sara Hinriksdottir was crowned MVP as Leicester Riders secured their third straight Betty Codona WBBL Trophy success with a 70-66 victory against Durham Palatinates.
