After releasing the senior structure earlier this week, we are now able to share the structure for the 2018/19 Jnr. NBL season!
With the move to expand the pool of premier teams across the NBL, this season’s structure will see three premier divisions in the Under 14, Under 16 and Under 18 boys’ competitions. There have also been other changes for the upcoming season, including the introduction of hybrid zone defence rules at Regional league level.
Pleasingly, the Jnr. NBL continues to appeal to new and existing teams alike, with over 26 new additions from across the country and 490 teams in total.
After contesting an incredible Under 18 Men’s showpiece to end the 2018 Junior Final Fours last May, champions Manchester Magic will lock horns in the North Premier with beaten finalists Myerscough College, who will no doubt be looking for revenge at the earliest opportunity. Elsewhere, Under 16 girls’ finalists GCA Haringey Angels and Sevenoaks Suns are also matched up, they’ll play in the South Premier this year.
"With the announcement of the 2018/19 structure, it is sure to be another exciting Jnr. NBL season," said Basketball England’s Delivery Manager for the Game, Gail Richards.. "There are positive changes with a new format for the Premier competitions and some rule changes to aid develop, and moving forward we'll be welcoming feedback through the season on how we can further develop the Jnr. NBL."
