We've got five games on tap in D1W this weekend as WNBL fans can feel the excitement of the looming post season. Who will secure regular season glory? Who could be relegated? We take a look at this week's games for clues on both fronts.
An interesting match up on the South coast tomorrow, two playoff hopefuls will go at it in the hope of picking up a pair of valuable points.
With both teams sporting 3-2 records in their last five games, neither side is lighting up the form table as the season enters the final stretch. Solent currently possess 3rd spot but as they're just one win ahead of 4th place Thames Valley, a win here would be useful indeed.
The Flyers on the other hand aren't in danger of dropping out of the playoffs, but with the 7th and 8th seeds set to likely face Ipswich and Anglia Ruskin in the opening round of the playoffs, that's a fate most sides would prefer to avoid. That makes the procurement of points that bit more important, and Bristol could pull level with 5th place Reading tomorrow if they can gain a positive result here.
2nd place Anglia Ruskin University (11-2) can pull closer to leaders Ipswich if they can dispatch strugglers BA London Lions II (3-10) at home tomorrow.
Thames Valley Cavaliers (8-6) are 4-1 in their last five games, and they'll look to carry that form into this weekend as they entertain Nottingham Trent University (4-8). That said, NTU won 78-67 when these sides first met back in November.
Saturday's other fixture is an important one at the foot of the standings as Southwark Pride (2-11) and Loughborough Riders (2-12) clash in the capital, with both sides desperate for a win.
Sunday contains just one fixture for D1W fans to enjoy, as Reading Rockets (7-4) welcome Bristol Academy Flyers to Berkshire for the 2nd leg of the Flyers double-header weekend.
