We're now on the home stretch in D1W with just a handful of game weeks before the end of the regular season. With each win and loss becoming increasingly important, we take a look at all the action from week 21 with a full recap of all the action.
Solent maintained their push for a top three spot in D1W with an entertaining 58-54 win over Bristol Academy Flyers.
After leading from the opening tip, Solent quickly built a double digit lead by the end of the 1st quarter. Bristol refused to give up though, battling back and keeping their deficit around the five point mark for much of the contest. Midway through the 4th the Flyers got their reward as they finally moved ahead, but the hosts managed to regroup to seal a close win down the stretch.
Krisztina Velkey had a game high 16 points to go with eight rebounds and six assists for Solent, as Maialen Zilbeti scored 15 as one of only two Flyers to make it into double digits.
The win keeps Solent two points above Thames Valley in 4th, though the Cavs do own the head-to-head tiebreaker between the sides if they can pull level between now and the end of the season.
In another close finish, Southwark sealed a valuable 44-42 win against fellow relegation candidates Loughborough after a back and forth affair. With neither team able to built a lead north of eight points, the contest was up for grabs throughout before a 14-8 final quarter sealed things for the Pride. Mia Jaye Sarkodee-Adoo led all scorers for the host with 15 points.
In an equally tense but much more high scoring game, Thames Valley managed to overcome Nottingham Trent University 101-94. With the lead still changing hands late in the 4th, the Cavs were the ones who managed to click in the game's final minutes to claim the W. Diana Voynova's 26 point, 14 rebound double-double was big for the hosts, with Kelsi Mcnamara hitting seven triples on her way to 23 points. Arielle Jackson was absolutely dialled in for NTU, scoring an incredible 53 points including seven three pointers, but it still wouldn't be enough.
Anglia Ruskin continued their march towards a potential regular season title as they beat BA London Lions 73-51. ARU now have just four games left in their schedule and the knowledge that winning all four will see them crowned as champs and #1 seeds heading into the playoffs.
In Sunday's only game, Reading made it three wins in a row with a 67-46 victory over Bristol, capping a weekend to forget for the Flyers. Talented forward Anabel Latorre collected a double-double for the Rockets with 14 points and 11 rebounds as Flo Ward was the only Bristol player to reach double digits, she had 12.
