Our partners at Reach and Teach are doing a fantastic job of putting on lots of programmes and events in London to help young people have a positive experience of basketball and develop all different types of skills to use in all areas of their lives - not only on court but also in school, the community and world of work.
Reach and Teach are all about using basketball’s fast and exciting style, (as well as all the really cool people who play it professionally) and using it to improve your experiences and work towards a positive goal.
Plus, some of their programmes have featured names like Michael Jordon, Busta Rhymes and Lebron James...not a bad line up!
One of their initiatives, Midnight Madness is the biggest open participation summer basketball programme in Europe. It has been running for 15 years, and puts on hoops competition, summer fun, and entertainment whilst providing exciting opportunities on and off the court. The programme aims to bridge the gaps for all aspiring players, regardless of their backgrounds, who are looking for an accessible pathway to pursue their hoop dreams. If you’re in the London area and want to find out more, go to the Midnight Madness website.
They also run the biggest grassroots basketball league in London, and run the London School of Basketball, a youth focused community program aimed at increasing sustainable basketball participation and developing grassroots infrastructure across London.
