Elite Academy Leagues recap (19 Nov 2025)

Zach Trezvant's last-gasp basket saw 'Sco past the Riders 81-79, and there was also a single-basket OT win for Manchester's WEABL side over Charnwood as last season's finalists opened their season with a victory.

Standout performances

Myerscough's win in the Midlands gives them the upper hand in chasing EABL North leaders Manchester, who picked up a win of their own as they easily handled BMet 95-65.

SGS College secured their first W of the season as they topped Derby Trailblazers 91-86, whilst EABL South outfit HHS Reading Rockets are also now off the mark as they beat Copleston 61-50.

The Sheffield College continue to lead the WEABL North after they saw off BMet 94-56, with Manchester and Nottingham both picking up further victories to keep the heat on the South Yorkshire programme.

The EABL and WEABL South both belong to CoLA right now, with both their programmes remaining unbeaten.

The Men beat Oaklands 82-52 to move to 4-0, with their WEABL counterparts doing the same thing to the Wolves, keeping reigning Player of the Week Holly Welch quiet on the way to an 85-50 W. 

Defending WEABL champs Copleston picked up their first win of the season as guard Maisie Keyes marked her return from injury with a standout performance in the 75-43 victory against HHS Reading Rockets.

What does it mean for the standings? 

With Barking and Itchen both out of action, CoLA were able to stretch their lead at the top of the EABL South.

Manchester are the front runners in the North at 4-0, leading Myerscough and then a four-way tie on three points between Derby, Charnwood, BMet and SGS.

CoLA remain unbeaten, leading their nearest WEABL South challengers by six points, and The Sheffield College lead the WEABL North ahead of still unbeaten Nottingham (2-0) and Manchester (1-0).

Player-of-the-week candidates 

Trevant's heroics against Charnwood put the finishing touches on a solid outing (22pts, 13reb, 4ast), cancelling out a standout performance from the Riders' Tristan Curran (31pts, 8reb, 5stl).

Manchester's Demi Babalola (13pts, 9reb, 5ast, 7stl) stuffed the stat sheet against BMet, with Larry Duru (27pts, 13reb, 4stl) providing a double-double in reply.

In the WEABL, Ipswich pair Keyes (28pts, 11reb, 8ast) and Holly Ensoll (23pts, 15reb, 8blk) both shone, as did Nottingham's Ophelia Larder-Lee (28pts, 8reb, 4ast, 6stl) against MK5D.

CoLA's Adaora Dioramma (18pts, 18reb) picked up another sizable double-double, whilst Isabelle Dalmedo (32pts, 10reb) helped keep Sheffield unbeaten.
