REGIONAL OFFICIATING CONFERENCES 2023.

Following on the success of last year's Regional Officiating Conferences, we are pleased to confirm the schedule of this year's roadshow.

The ROCs form part of a pivotal moment in the new season where we are able to share the most important officiating updates at a venue within your region. They will take place across the country during September following the National Officiating Conference.

ROC is aimed at the following groups:

Above we have listed the target groups for the regional conferences however we do welcome officials who have also attended NOC. ROCs will really benefit officials operating from junior local league level all the way up the pyramid.

There is no cost to attend the Regional Officiating Conferences taking place during the week.

Use the button at the bottom of this webpage to sign up to the conferences.

NBL Referee Criteria 2023/24

NBL referees are expected to run fitness tests at either NOC or a ROC. We are not accepting referees running and filming their own fitness tests this year.

The fitness test is the multi-stage fitness test where you are required to run 20 metre shuttles at increasing speed following an audio track (which can be found here). If at any point during the fitness test you feel unwell, you must stop. We recommend that you practice the fitness test prior to attending.

Based on your age/gender you are required to achieve this number of laps:

Like previous years, we will use the testportal site for this year's rules test. You will be asked 25 questions from the bank of questions that will be made available here.

Referee Practice Questions
Referee Resit Exam

The resit test will be active from Wednesday 13  to Thursday 21 September. The test will be based on the current rules.

Group A referees are expected to attend NOC, with Groups B & C expected to attend a ROC (or NOC if they so choose) and successfully complete the rules test and fitness test to be eligible for games at their competency level. A resit is available for those that are unsuccessful at the rules test but will receive restricted appointments for the first three weeks of the season.

NBL Table Official and Statistician Criteria 2023/24

Appointments to prestigious games will be prioritised for those that attended National Officiating Conference and passed the rules test.
