NBL Division Two Preview - Week 4 (19/20 October 2019)

With another nine games scheduled for this weekend, NBL Division Two is once again set for a busy few days in week 4. With five unbeaten sides remaining in the Northern Conference and four in the South, it's been an interesting start to the season. The last two teams to begin their D2M schedule, London Greenhouse Pioneers and London Westside also play this weekend. Let's take a look at what's in store.

Game of the Week

Derbyshire Arrows (2-0) v Derbyshire Spartans (0-2)

Another week, another local derby in D2M. Last week saw the Flyers and Hurricanes face off in Bristol, and this time there's an all-Midlands clash between the Arrows and the Spartans.

After a narrow opening win against Bristol Hurricanes, the Arrows had a much more comfortable time against Sheffield Hallam Sharks, beating them 96 - 62 last weekend.

The Spartans have been trending in the opposite direction, losing both their opening two games. An 80 - 70 defeat to Manchester Magic was followed up by a home loss to Myerscough, the Spartans would like to correct their form sooner rather than later. Ashley Ugo has impressed in both of the Spartans games so far, he may be key to a potential win.

Elsewhere in D2M

Like Derbyshire Arrows, Myerscough College also sit at 2-0 right now as they take a short trip to Manchester to face the Magic (1-1).

Team Newcastle (1-0) host Team Birmingham Elite (1-0) in a battle of the undefeated sides after opening game wins as Bristol Academy Flyers II (1-1) will hope they can keep Sheffield Hallam Sharks (0-2) winless for another week down in the South West.

Likewise, University of Chester (0-2) have been unable to find a win in either of their opening two games, they'll hope a home tilt against Bristol Hurricanes (0-2) helps them get off the mark.

In the Southern Conference, current leaders Essex Rebels have a home game against a London Greenhouse Pioneers side playing their first game of the season. London Westside are also getting their schedule underway, they host the winless Greenwich Titans (0-2).

In a repeat of the NBL Division Three Playoff Final from a year ago, London BC Medelynas (1-0) and Team Solent Kestrels II (0-1) meet in the capital tomorrow. Medelynas took the spoils 80 - 66 last time these sides met and will hoping for a similar outcome here.

Finally, Sussex Bears (1-0) welcome Ipswich (1-0) in a match up between two of the Conference's remaining unbeaten teams.
