Basketball England innovate with online courses for coaches and officials

Basketball England have launched innovative online lockdown training for coaches – with courses for officials to follow shortly.

With Covid-19 continuing to impact daily life, the organisation’s new web-based Level 2 Coaching Award is the first of its kind to be rolled out for aspiring candidates across the country.

With the first session, hosted by Sport Structures, due to begin on Wednesday evening, the popularity of the move is already evident. The course is fully booked along with the following three dates, with further slots being made available in July.

“We recognise the need and demand for coaches to engage in undertaking their Level 2 training to gain their qualifications before the new season,” said Basketball England's Coaching Delivery Manager Brian Aldred.

“In the current climate, we had to adapt and move away from traditional face-to-face delivery into a blended approach.

“This allows us to service the needs of coaches without losing any of the content and quality assurance of the qualification.”

The coaching Level 3 course is set to be available soon, allowing more coaches to continue their development despite the lockdown.
