Newcastle secure fifth win on the bounce in Glasgow

Newcastle Eagles beat Glasgow Rocks 105-93 at the Emirates Arena in an exciting match up on Sunday Afternoon.

Rocks made the brighter start out of the two teams and held a narrow 24-23 lead after the first , thanks to a good first quarter from Christian Keeling on his BBL debut. The American joined up with the Scottish side earlier in the week and made an instant impact in the capital.

Newcastle would respond well after the first and went into the break with a healthy 11-point lead. A double double performance from Rahmon Fletcher would prove to be the difference between the side. He provided 29 points and 10 assists. The longer the game went on the more comfortable Eagles became.

Eagles were up 22 going into the final quarter and saw the game out with ease to secure their fifth win of the season and their fifth win in a row as they go top of the championship leapfrogging the London Lions.

For the hosts Christian Keeling was the standout player dropping 27 points on his debut. The highest scoring debut from a Rocks player since 2008. Boban Jacdonni also had a good game for Rocks with 23 points and 12 rebounds. The result condemns Glasgow to their fourth loss of the season with five games played.
