Solent's BBL Trophy Final clash with Newcastle live on BBC

British basketball fans have been given a boost with the news that the men’s and women’s British Basketball Trophy Finals, taking place at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow, will be shown live on the BBC on Sunday 15 March.

The two matches – representing the climax of one of the sport’s premier knockout competitions – will be available live on the BBC Sport website and app, via the BBC iPlayer and via BBC Red Button. The games will also be available on demand via the BBC iPlayer for 30 days following the event.

Durham Palatinates, in their second final of the season so far, clash with Leicester Riders in the women’s WBBL Betty Codona Trophy Final (1pm), before Newcastle Eagles go head to head with Team Solent Kestrels in the men’s BBL Trophy Final (3.30pm). Team Solent Kestrels are the first National Basketball League (NBL) team to reach a major BBL final.

Bob Hope, Commercial Director for the British Basketball League (BBL) said: “Basketball is now the second biggest team sport in the UK with over 1.3 million regular players, more than one million of whom are 16 and under.*

“We’re delighted that BBC Sport will be broadcasting this event to a wider audience and helping to introduce even more new fans to the sport.”
