WNBL Division One Preview - Week 17 (25/26 January 2020)

With three of the divisions top teams in action tomorrow across four D1W games, there's plenty for WNBL fans to look forward to in week 17.

Game of the week

Nottingham Trent University (4-6) v Anglia Ruskin University (9-2)

In a dress rehearsal for next weekend's National Cup Final, Anglia Ruskin take on Nottingham Trent with both teams in good form.

Despite sitting two games under .500 on the year, NTU have been in much better form in recent weeks and enjoy a 4-1 record in their last five games. With that kind of momentum on their side to go with home court advantage, they'll be a tricky opponent for ARU tomorrow.

Despite their impressive record, the Rhinos suffered defeat last time out against Ipswich, going down 86-80 on the road to relinquish their grip on top spot. The reigning playoff champs can still call on the memory of a 92-77 win over NTU when these sides last met in October though, where 38 points from Madeline Homoly made all the difference.

Elsewhere in D1W

In another hotly anticipated tie at the top of the standings, Ipswich (10-2) hit the road and head south to play Team Solent Kestrels (8-2). 4-0 on their own court this season, the Kestrels have also beaten Ipswich when these sides met in Suffolk so this is a difficult encounter for the D1W leaders.

Thames Valley and Bristol can both take steps to further secure a playoff spot this weekend with the 6th place Flyers (5-5) at home to Southwark Pride (2-9) and the 5th place Cavs (6-6) away in Loughborough (2-9).
