WNBL1 recap: Week 20 (13/14 March 2021) - live streams, stats and more

First, second and third all won in WNBL1 this weekend, ensuring the standings remain unchanged at the top.

Leaders Ipswich, second-place Loughborough and Solent in third all grabbed victories in week 20, as did CoLA Southwark Pride as they took double-header spoils against Reading and Thames Valley.

There's a recap of all the action below, and each result is also clickable if you wish to view the live stats.

Anything but a Little performance

Ipswich (10-1) 85-62 Cardiff Met Archers (0-4)

Esther Little recorded a stunning triple-double as table-topping Ipswich beat Cardiff Met Archers 85-62.

The Gonzaga NCAA1 commit was in top form on Saturday afternoon, coupling 10 points with a huge 24 boards and 12 blocks, plus a pair of assists and a couple of steals.

Ipswich's Harriet Welham (31pts, 7reb) led all scorers, with the Suffolk side leading this one from wire to wire.

Twelve points from Katie Richards helped keep Cardiff in the contest at stages, but once the Ipswich lead passed into double figures by the second quarter, it never came back below that mark.

Elsewhere this weekend

Loughborough Riders (9-3) made short work of BA London Lions II (0-8), winning 76-42 to begin the weekend.

The Riders' lead sat at 40 points as the final quarter began, a sign of the dominance the hosts enjoyed as captain Robyn Ainge put together a solid 13-point, eight-rebound, five-assist and five-steal effort.

Ann Sheaia top-scored for the Lions with nine points.

In Saturday's only remaining game, CoLA Southwark Pride (3-4) won 71-62 on the road against Reading Rockets (4-5).

A 17-3 run by the visitors that straddled the third and fourth quarters took an even game and broke it open in CoLA's favour, with the Rockets unable to recover before the final buzzer.

Pride's Simona Henshaw topped all scorers with 17 points, supported well by seven points and 17 rebounds by Isi Ozzy-Momodu.

Sitota Gines Espinosa led the way for Reading with 13 points and seven steals.

Sunday began with CoLA sealing their two-win weekend as they beat Thames Valley Cavaliers (3-4) 83-63.

Henshaw continued her good form for Pride to finish with 25 points as the hosts led by 20 at half time, staying in control the rest of the way.

TVC captain Katherine Goldsby (27pts) offered some resistance for the visitors, but it wouldn't be enough.

Finally, Cardiff dropped a close one at home to Team Solent Kestrels (6-4) to close the weekend, going down 63-58.

In a see-saw final quarter, Solent had led by six before Archers stormed back to move in front by two with 4:58 remaining.

The visitors would then regroup and go again, wrestling the advantage back to just keep their noses in front until the buzzer.

Erica Meyer enjoyed a double-double for the Kestrels with 21 points and 11 rebounds as Cardiff's Amber Deane led all scorers with 22.
