WNBL1 preview: 20 January - live streams, stats and more

With attention turning to the National Cup Final this Sunday, there's still a pair of D1W clashes set for tomorrow.

City of Birmingham Rockets will entertain Barking, whilst Brent will try to keep their good form going as they head to Loughborough Riders.

Both games take place tomorrow before Thames Valley and Ipswich battle it out on Sunday in Manchester.

We take a look at all of the action below, with links to live stats and live streams at the bottom of the page.

Loughborough Riders (8-5) vs Brent Bulls (7-3)

Fourth hosts fifth tomorrow as Brent Bulls take a trip up the country to face Loughborough Riders.

It's not long since these two teams last met, going head-to-head in the North West London to start December, with the Bulls coming through as commanding 83-32 winners that day.

The Riders never really got going that day, shooting just 15% and losing the second quarter 15-0. No doubt the top four hopefuls will want to give a significantly better account of themselves this weekend.

Brent come into the clash off the back of a pair of wins against strugglers City of Birmingham, claiming both legs of a home and away double-header last weekend.

Forward Jess Davies was in scintillating form in both those contests to claim FocusHoops Player of the Week honours, and she will no doubt be a focal point of the Bulls' game plan against this weekend.

Vanessa Akra (12pts, 6reb) and Rochelle Davids (12pts, 6reb, 6ast) both enjoyed strong outings as well, demonstrating the depth of talent that Brent can call upon.

Elsewhere this weekend

The only other game tomorrow sees City of Birmingham Rockets (2-11) play host to Barking Abbey (4-7).

It's been a tough first season in D1W for CoB, who are without a win since mid-November. That stretch also includes a loss to bottom side Team Solent, their lone success on the year so far.

The gap to safety is stretching larger by the week for CoB, with tenth place Barking now four points ahead of the Rockets going into this weekend.

That makes this contest a big one, especially since Birmingham could claim two valuable points plus the head-to-head tiebreaker against BA with a win.

If the Rockets are going to escape the bottom two, success tomorrow would be a huge first step.
