Basketball England 2025 Awards – Nomination window extended, regional award evenings

If you know someone who has gone above and beyond to help grow our sport, be sure to nominate them for one of our 15 awards.

Each of BE's ten regions will once again deliver an awards evening throughout March and April 2026, providing a perfect opportunity for all sections of the basketball community to come together and celebrate those who have made a significant contribution to our great game.  

Basketball England Club & Volunteer Manager Nick Holloway said: "There was a fantastic atmosphere and community spirit at each of our regional award evenings in 2025 and we look forward to building on that momentum to make the events bigger and better in 2026.

"Volunteers and their selfless dedication continue to drive our great sport forward. Our clubs do such a incredible job in giving young people the best first experience with the sport, and their work, alongside the unsung heroes within their programmes, deserve their time to shine."

The 15 Basketball England awards will take into consideration the period running from the 1 January 2025 to 10 December 2025. 

The awards cover four areas: 

Coaching Awards 

• Dave Fisher Children’s Coach of the Year 

• John Sage Club Coach of the Year 

• Player Development Coach of the Year 

Organisation Awards 

• Anne Pitman and Pauline Prior Community Club of the Year 

• Slam Jam Delivery Partner of the Year

• Local League Provider of the Year 

• Education Institution of the Year 

• Joe & Maggie Forber Community Basketball Programme of the Year 

Officiating Awards 

• Bill Taylor Table Official of the Year 

• Steve Lallament Referee of the Year 

• Statistician of the Year 

Individual Excellence Awards 

• Bev Guymon Inspiring Female of the Year 

• Mansoor Ahmed Media/Photographer of the Year 

• Harry Errington GC Volunteer of the Year 

• Club Welfare Officer of the Year 

Services to Basketball

The Services to Basketball award is a prestigious award that can only be won once by an individual and recognises the lifelong commitment to the sport.

These individuals have contributed at all levels of the game, from grassroots, all the way through to elite and international, as well as covering various different roles within the sport. Winners of the award include coaches, players, referees, table officials, league organisers, area registrars and many more

As part of the current process, we are also welcoming Services to Basketball nominations, and this can be done from the same link as the nominations for the other 15 awards.
