Basketball England seeking to elect two new board members

Basketball England is seeking to elect two new board members.

BE requires knowledgeable individuals from the basketball community who are passionate about helping the organisation govern and resource the sport with a key responsibility of representing the interests of our members.

The Board will, through the process stated in the Articles of Association, recruit members to serve three-year terms. The election will be carried out by an independent election services organisation.

Basketball England chair Paul Blanchard said:

“We welcome applicants from across the sport with the aim of reflecting the diversity of our membership and the wider basketball family.

“We are seeking individuals who will, primarily, represent the membership and share their experience and understanding of the sport in this country. It would also be helpful if candidates can strengthen the Board with experience in other areas as we prepare to enter on new strategy period.”

The organisation is actively looking to increase the diversity of the group of directors and those seeking their first Board role will be supported.

Requirements

These roles require a strategic perspective for the development and sustainable growth of basketball in England.

Successful candidates will be required to attend at least six board meetings per year, the AGM, board planning days and will represent the board at events and on sub-committees.

Put yourself forward for the Elected Director role

We will elect directors as part of the election process as outlined in our Articles of Association.

Elected Directors are drawn from within our sport and are appointed through an election process in which our Full Members of Basketball England can vote. A Full Member is defined as an affiliated club, league or association by the Articles of Association, not an individual BE member. The candidate with the most votes will be appointed an Elected Director for an initial term of three years.

If you would like to apply for election, please do so before Tuesday 6 January 2026 (before 5pm).

Your application must be signed by a proposer and seconder, and both must be Members of the Association.

A list of nominations will be distributed by the Company Secretary to all Full Members alongside the release of the Annual General Meeting notice, which will take place on 12 February 2026.

Following the application process, we will release details of the voting for Director Elections in which our full members are entitled to vote.
