Basketball England officials continue to support the game's biggest events
A busy week of basketball up and down the country has seen a large number of officials appointed across a number of high-profile events.
Starting with the Super League Basketball Cup Finals on Sunday 22 March at the AO Arena in Manchester, and culminating in the Academy League Finals in Colchester at the Essex Sports Arena on Thursday 26 March, it has been a bumper week for the sport.
Basketball England’s officiating team were in action on Sunday with Simon Unsworth the crew chief for the Men’s Cup Final and Shaun Williams part of the stats team for the Women’s Cup Final.
BUCS Big Wednesday was hosted in Loughborough, with Basketball England appointing match officials, in collaboration with Basketball Wales, who contributed nominated officials to another instalment of the higher education showpiece.
Those events, plus Thursday's Academy League Finals and Dynamik National School Finals at the Essex Sports Arena have also allowed for a number of Basketball England’s referee and table official coaches to provide valuable evaluation and feedback to those involved.
Attention for the officiating team now turns to deployment of NBL referees for this weekend's playoff quarter-finals, and planning for the end of season and summer competitions.
Basketball England's Senior Delivery Manager Simon Unsworth said:
"It was great that we were able to deploy so many officials across the various finals that have taken place in the past week, and that a large number of our officials were appointed to the Super League Basketball finals.
