Croydon Cougars rally to help Jamaicans after impact of Hurricane Melissa

The Cougars organised a special collection drive at their home venue, gathering essential items such as non-perishable food, clothing, toiletries and household supplies.

The initiative saw an overwhelming response from players, families and supporters, who came out to lend a helping hand.

All donations have been sent to Jamaica Valley, one of the club’s valued sponsors, who are coordinating the shipment of the collected goods directly to communities in Jamaica most affected by the hurricane.

“The devastation in Jamaica has touched many of our players and supporters personally,” said club chairman Paul Mundy-Castle.

“As a club rooted in community spirit, we felt it was important to do something meaningful to help those in need. We’re incredibly proud of the generosity shown by everyone involved.”

Jamaica Valley, known for its Caribbean food products and strong ties to the Jamaican community, will ensure the safe transport and delivery of the items to local relief organisations on the ground.

“We are grateful to the Croydon Cougars and everyone who contributed,” said a spokesperson from Jamaica Valley. “Acts like this remind us that community extends far beyond borders.”
