Elite Academy Leagues preview - Week Eleven (28/01/26)

HHS Reading Rockets and Barking will play a rare Tuesday contest in the WEABL South before CoLA vs Copleston renew their rivalry to headline Wednesday's slate.

With no EABL North games on tap, Barking vs Itchen provides the pick of the bunch in the South as the two teams look to chase down leaders CoLA.

WEABL set for pivotal week

Both WEABL Conferences could be all but decided this week.

In the South, the first instalment of the much-anticipated CoLA Copleston rivalry takes place in London on Wednesday.

A CoLA win would put the five-time WEABL winners on the verge of the regular season title, with Ipswich's opening game loss to Itchen proving costly as they've spent all season trying to make up the difference.

A Copleston victory would set up the return leg in Suffolk perfectly for what would likely be a winner-takes-all match up in mid-February.

After Manchester's shock loss at home to MK5D last week, unbeaten Nottingham are just a few results away from sealing the North Conference.

The Wildcats head to Charnwood this week as they look to continue their perfect season, and Manchester travel to winless BMet.

All eyes on Barking vs Itchen

The South duo lock horns in both competitions this week, with different goals on the line.

The WEABL South is once again looking like a Copleston/CoLA one-two, with that order TBC. Behind that it will once again be two from three between Oaklands, Barking and Itchen.

Wednesday's meeting in East London will be a big contest in that three-way race, but there's still plenty of games to go before the playoff picture becomes clear.

In the EABL, all three of the same trio should make the post-season, but two-loss BA and Itchen will both fancy their chances of tracking down leaders CoLA, should the current frontrunners slip up.

Two of CoLA's last four games are against BA and Oaklands, both tricky contests, but the main aim for both sides tomorrow will be to get a big win and momentum against a rival, especially since the pair meet again in a week's time.

Even if CoLA can't be caught, both teams will have their sights on the #2 seed and with it, an advantage heading into the playoffs.
