Elite Academy Leagues preview - Week Seven (10/12/25)

Copleston against Oaklands and Itchen hosting CoLA are this week's EABL/WEABL South double ups, with MK5D vs Sheffield (WEABL) and Charnwood welcoming Manchester (EABL) the highlights from the North.

Playoffs in sight

Plenty of attention is paid to the top spot of the four Academy conferences, and rightly so, given the importance of the regular season.

Teams finishing in the top four of each Conference still make the post-season though, keeping their hopes alive of playoff glory and the chance to etch their name into Academy history.

Derby's home game with BMet in the EABL North is an important contest in that respect, with a pair of 1-4 programmes battling over the #4 seed behind early pace setters Manchester, Myerscough and Charnwood.

Likewise, the EABL South clash between Copleston and Oaklands falls into a similar category, with both hoping to keep up with the teams in the top three.

Sheffield have suffered a few tough losses in the WEABL North of late, and whilst catching unbeaten leaders Nottingham may be tough, they can still battle hard to slot into a solid post-season position, starting with this week's trip to MK5D.

Staying perfect

Manchester Magic, and both City of London Academy - Southwark are all within touching distance of spotless opening halves to their respective schedules.

Manchester are 5-0, with a victory against each of the other five EABL North outfits. A road trip to Charnwood awaits on Wednesday, a team they beat at home 81-77 back in October, for a chance to head into the mid-season break at 6-0.

CoLA's sides need to navigate a trip to Itchen to head into the holidays at 5-0, proudly atop of both South Conferences.

CoLA's EABL roster can then prepare for a trip to defending champs Barking in January, and the WEABL outfit still have two games to play against long-term rivals Copleston, but for the unbeaten trio, they can't ask for much more from the opening three months of the season. 

Nottingham Academy Wildcats have the luxury of putting their feet up until 2026, going 4-0 and leading the WEABL North as they look ahead to return fixtures against Manchester and Sheffield in the new year.
