Elite Academy Leagues preview - Week Twelve (04/02/26)

CoLA won the EABL South on Monday following their 64-58 road win against Barking, securing the #1 seed heading into the playoffs with two games to spare.

CoLA's WEABL South side can do the same on Wednesday as they travel to Oaklands, but Manchester (EABL North) and Nottingham (WEABL North) both need a win plus their nearest challengers to falter if they're to also get over the line.

One down, one to go

CoLA locking up one of the EABL's #1 seeds means that there's only one Conference title still to be decided on the men's side for 2025/26.

Manchester can claim it if they can win their last two games, starting this week at home to 1-7 BMET and then away to 2-6 SGS the week after.

A slip-up by Myerscough in either of their remaining two games would also decide top spot, but 'Sco will be trying to win out themselves to keep the pressure on their North West rivals.

In the battle for playoff spots, Barking's trip to Itchen is a big one on Wednesday, though both sides should make the post-season regardless of the winner, with Oaklands trying to keep their playoff push going against a CoLA team that could rest some of their starters if needed.

In the North, Derby vs SGS looks to be a straight shootout in the Midlands for the North's #4 seed, with Charnwood looking secure in third as they renew their rivalry with Myerscough this week.

CoLA, Nottingham nearly there

Neither WEABL conference is locked up yet, but that might change once another round of games has been completed.

Nottingham's final game showdown with Manchester could end up as a non-contest to end the month, with the Wildcats having a chance to claim top spot before the teams meet.

Winning their next two games, this Wednesday against MK5D and next week against Charnwood, would be enough to see Nottingham home, or the Mystics dropping points in the meantime.

CoLA are in a similar position in the South. They can avoid a last game winner-takes-all scenario with rivals Copleston if they can beat Oaklands this week, forcing the Suffolk programme into the #2 seed before the sides meet.

Itchen need a big win against Barking to keep their post-season hopes alive after falling six points behind BA and Oaklands for the last two playoff spots.
