Elite Academy Leagues recap (10 Dec 2025)

EABL leaders Manchester Magic and City of London Academy - Southwark are still unbeaten, but both were made to work during a tense afternoon.

CoLA's WEABL programme had no such issues, cruising past Itchen, whilst MK5D grabbed a statement victory over Sheffield in the WEABL North.

Standout performances

Manchester Magic weathered a see-saw fourth quarter to come through as 73-68 winners on the road in Charnwood, with the hosts grabbing a late lead not once but twice before Magic left town with all three points.

CoLA staged a miraculous fightback to keep their unbeaten record intact, recovering from as many as 20 points down midway through the third quarter, pacing their charge perfectly to pip Itchen 74-72.

Myerscough kept pace in the EABL North as they beat SGS 87-41, Oaklands had no problems with Copleston, coming out as 91-72 victors, and Derby won the battle for fourth seed in the North, topping BMet 92-86.

After waiting over a season for their first WEABL win, MK5D have two in two weeks after they knocked off The Sheffield College 76-72 to get themselves firmly into the playoff conversation.

Elsewhere, it was business as usual as South powerhouses Copleston beat Oaklands 76-43, CoLA handled Itchen 69-51, and Charnwood kept BMet winless with an 81-61 final.

What does it mean for the standings? 

Manchester and CoLA will both finish 2025 as unbeaten EABL leaders, navigating the opening half of the season perfectly.

CoLA and Nottingham will both do the same in the WEABL, though the races behind those teams are both finely-balanced.

W/EABL Playoff Structures

Player-of-the-week candidates 

In the EABL, 33 points and 14 boards from forward Toby Gass made him the hero in CoLA's big comeback win, cancelling out 23 points from Itchen's Ethan Round.

Harley Blake's 23 points led the way for Manchester, with Demi Babalola (18pts, 14reb, 6ast) also impressing in a high-quality battle with Charnwood's Zavier Gleadell-Smith (16pts, 14reb).

Twenty points continued Zach Trezvant's good form for Myerscough, Isaac Carty-Peters had 29 points in defeat for Copleston and Gavin Mitchell (26pts, 17reb) provided another big double-double for Oaklands.

Charnwood's WEABL win over BMet was paced by Grace Nzeakor's 23-point, 10-rebound double-double, Kaiya Bateman (14pts, 13reb, 10ast) was on triple-double duty for Copleston as team-mates Angel Whyte (25pts, 6reb, 4ast), Maisie Keyes (15pts, 15reb, 6ast) and Holly Ensoll (11pts, 12reb, 4blk) also excelled.

CoLA's Eva-Grace Yebila returned to action with a sizable 16-point, 14-rebound double-double, with Debra Wilson-Osuide dropping a game-high 17 points to throw her hat into the ring for potential weekly honours.
