Elite Academy Leagues recap (11 Feb 2026)

Manchester Magic were pushed all the way in the EABL North but sealed the deal in style as they beat SGS to secure top spot ahead of Myerscough.

The WEABL North title rumbles on for another week after Manchester's win over Sheffield keeps them in the race with leaders Nottingham, while both South Conferences had some big results that impacted playoff spots, including CoLA completing a perfect 10-0 season in the EABL.

Standout performances

Manchester held their nerve to win 87-53 against SGS, thanks in part to a standout performance from Demi Babalola.

That result made Myerscough's 122-47 thumping against Derby irrelevant to the title race, though it does provide 'Sco with plenty of momentum heading into the playoffs.

Charnwood used a period of OT to edge past BMet 86-77, though their third-place finish was already secured regardless of result.

Itchen's 95-55 win against HHS secures the #2 seed in the EABL South, CoLA played out a perfect 10-0 regular season with a comfortable 80-61 victory over Copleston, and Barking locked up third place with their 77-68 W against Oaklands. 

Manchester's hard-fought 64-54 success over The Sheffield College means Nottingham's wait to secure themselves as WEABL North champs goes on.

A huge game from Holly Welch gave Oaklands a 74-72 win against Barking, but the margin of victory wouldn't be enough to give the Wolves the head-to-head tiebreaker.

In the South's only other game, HHS Reading Rockets beat Itchen 61-56 to claim their first win of the season, with 14-year-old Matilda Upfold putting together a standout stat line to get the hosts a maiden W.

What does it mean for the standings? 

The EABL North is done, with Manchester #1, Myerscough #2, Charnwood #3 and three-win Derby making the playoffs in fourth.

The South's standings are also confirmed, with CoLA #1, Itchen #2, Barking #3 and Oaklands #4.

That provides some exciting contests for the opening round of the playoffs, including a repeat of last season's Playoff Final, on 11 March:

• #2 Myerscough College vs #3 Barking Abbey
• #1 City of London Academy - Southwark vs #4 Derby Trailblazers
• #2 Itchen College vs #3 Charnwood College Riders

With only Manchester vs Sheffield going ahead yesterday, there's still plenty of action to play out before the WEABL North can be decided, with Sheffield, Charnwood and MK5D still battling for third and fourth behind Nottingham and the Mystics.

The South is now confirmed, with CoLA #1, Copleston #2, Barking #3 and Oaklands #4.

W/EABL Playoff Structures

Player-of-the-week candidates 

Charnwood's Rudy Buckingham (28pts, 3reb), Tristan Curran (22pts, 10reb, 6ast) and Zavier Gleadell-Smith (14pts, 13reb, 5ast) all combined to help Charnwood past BMet, who enjoyed another standout performance from Larry Duru (30pts, 14reb, 3ast) in defeat.

Myerscough's lopsided win over Derby produced a number of standout performances, with Harry Sheehan's 22 points leading all scorers.

Demi Babalola (24pts, 13reb) hit a remarkable 11/12 FGs to lead Manchester past SGS, Raffy Connolly dropped 19 points for BA against Oaklands, Andrew Nwokolo (23pts, 8reb) neared a double-double to help CoLA past Copleston, and Ethan Round (20pts, 7reb) hit four triples to top score for Itchen against HHS.

Paige Jagger's 23 points helped Manchester to another win in the WEABL North, but stat line of the day belongs to Oaklands' Holly Welch as the former Player of the Week winner poured in 32 points against Barking.

HHS' Matilda Upfold (23pts, 20reb) had a huge-double-double to put herself in the mix, with Iris Gannon (12pts, 6stl) enjoying a good two-way effort for the Rockets.
