Elite Academy Leagues recap (25 Feb 2026), playoff brackets confirmed

A dramatic last day in the WEABL North saw Charnwood miss the post-season for the first time in the competition's history, allowing MK5D to make the playoffs in just their second season.

The North's title was tied up last Monday as Nottingham finally sealed top spot, with all 16 W/EABL playoff sides now confirmed.

Standout performances

In a final day with plenty of possible outcomes in the WEABL North, The Sheffield College made it simple by beating Charnwood College Riders 60-52.

Leading from tip to buzzer to remove any trace of anxiety from the situation, the South Yorkshire programme now head to the playoffs as the North's #3 seeds.

Sheffield's win meant there was no way for MK5D to keep climbing the standings despite their 102-42 victory against BMet as they didn't own the head-to-head tiebreaker with their 5-5 rivals.

The Rockets' winless season mirrors MK5D's from a year ago, their debut in the competition, and seeing the Milton Keynes outfit punch a ticket to the playoffs in season two will clearly indicate what is possible for BMet next term.

Copleston wrapped up their WEABL South regular-season slate with a 50-37 road win against HHS Reading Rockets, but honours were shared between the sides as the hosts took the EABL South clash 60-48.

The standings are now completed in both leagues, confirming next week's playoff matchups:

W/EABL Playoff Structures

Player-of-the-week candidates 

MK's lopsided WEABL win over BMet allowed Faith Deakin to pour in a huge stat-line for her side, closing with a triple-double of 34 points, 16 rebounds and 12 steals.

Kirsten Moran (14pts, 7reb, 4ast) and Jovy Chan (18pts, 5reb, 8stl) both played well in support.

Grace Nzeakor (21pts, 8reb) led the resistance for Charnwood, but it wouldn't be enough against Evie Richards (14pts, 7ast, 3stl) and The Sheffield College.

Copleston's Holly Ensoll (13pts, 16reb, 3blk) ended her breakout season with another double-double as team mate Maisie Keyes top scored on 19 points.

In the lone EABL clash, Matthew Daines (18pts, 8reb, 4stl) and Malachi Hassan-Taylor (18pts, 4reb, 5stl) pushed HHS to a win over Copleston, with U17 standout Ethan Harrington (13pts, 9reb, 4stl) plus James Waterhouse (10pts, 14reb, 2stl, 3blk) chipping in a useful stat line as well.

Copleston were led by 20 points apiece from Matthew Liddamore and Callum Fobister.
