Elite Academy Leagues recap (3 Dec 2025)

It was largely business as usual in the EABL North as Charnwood, Myerscough and Manchester all won, though Barking's title defence is stuttering after a loss to Oaklands.

MK5D grabbed their first-ever WEABL victory, whilst Manchester, Itchen and Barking also picked up points.

Standout performances

Charnwood had to weather a second-half fightback from BMet to seal a 90-83 victory, with Myerscough easing past Derby and Manchester having no problem with SGS College to maintain the usual order at the top of the EABL North.

A 16-4 second frame doomed Barking in their 88-57 defeat to Oaklands, with Gavin Mitchell providing a sizable double-double in that one, and Itchen won all four quarters to comfortably beat HHS Reading Rockets 101-53.

MK5D have their historic maiden WEABL victory after they beat BMet 79-53, and recent GB call up Irene Oboavwoduo made short work of The Sheffield College as Manchester Mystics grabbed a 71-34 road win in South Yorkshire.

Itchen made it two from two as their WEABL side saw off HHS as well, 80-46, though Barking bounced back to avenge the EABL side, topping Oaklands 56-47 thanks to a 20-9 third-quarter burst.

What does it mean for the standings? 

Manchester remain top of the EABL North ahead of Myerscough and Charnwood, while Itchen have moved into second spot behind EABL South leaders CoLA as Barking slip to third at 2-2.

Nottingham were without a game in the WEABL North, allowing Manchester to make up some ground as they continued Sheffield's recent slide.

Barking's win over Oaklands moved them into second place in the WEABL South, alongside 2-1 Itchen, with the Wolves rounding out the top four.

Player-of-the-week candidates 

Gavin Mitchell's 21-point, 22-rebound double-double for Oaklands was a big effort in the win over Barking, with team-mate Dylan Gladstone (15pts, 11reb) offering a double-double of his own.

Manchester's Demi Babalola (18pts, 6reb, 9ast, 6stl) was excellent at both ends of the court against SGS, with Jakub Ofman (22pts, 11reb, feature image) and Ethan Round (25pts, 6stl) both providing 31 efficiency outings for Itchen against HHS.

Zavier Gleadell-Smith (10pts, 10reb) provided an efficient double-double for Charnwood, cancelling out a big effort from BMet's Larry Duru (26pts, 18reb).

In the WEABL, Manchester's Irene Oboavwoduo (26pts, 8reb, 8stl, 6ast) was stuffing the stat sheet, with Itchen's Anna Mendez (20pts, 10reb) was also in fine form.

Barking's Sharliyah Sutherland (20pts) and Oaklands' Holly Welch (15pts, 14reb) had a great battle, and Sofia Elnur (23pts, 12reb), Yi Na Chan (21pts, 8reb, 5ast) and Faith Deakin (23pts) were the catalysts for MK5D opening their WEABL account.
