Elite Academy Leagues recap (4 Feb 2026)

CoLA's WEABL win against Oaklands confirmed top spot for the women, following Monday's victory against Barking that did the same for the men in the EABL.

The EABL and WEABL North titles are still yet to be decided, but Itchen took a big step towards locking up second spot in the EABL South and Derby sealed a post-season spot in the EABL North.

Standout performances

CoLA locked up the WEABL South title and the #1 seed for the playoffs with an 82-46 victory over Oaklands, who now look to be set in the #4 spot with Barking in third after they beat Itchen 73-63.

An 88-55 win for Nottingham over MK5D and Manchester's 63-52 success in Charnwood takes the WEABL North title race into another week, and the situation is the same in the EABL North after Manchester (106-57 vs BMet) and Myerscough (72-59 vs Charnwood) both won to take matters down to the final game of their regular season.

Derby's six-point 87-81 win against SGS locked up fourth for the Trailblazers, taking the head-to-head tiebreaker between the two sides by just a single point, as Charnwood are also confirmed as finishing third.

What does it mean for the standings? 

The EABL North will see either Manchester or Myerscough crowned as champs next week. Magic need to beat SGS, and Myerscough need their rivals to slip up and win at home to Derby themselves. 

Charnwood (#3) and Derby (#4) are now confirmed for the post-season.

CoLA took the EABL South title on Monday, with Itchen's win against Barking installing the South coast side as the most likely side to take second spot.

The last two playoff spots are going to be heading to Oaklands and Barking, though the final positionings of second, third and fourth are still TBC.

Nottingham will be confirmed as WEABL North winners next Wednesday if they can see off Charnwood, leaving Manchester in second.

The three-way race between Sheffield, Charnwood and MK5D for the remaining two playoff spots is set to be a tight one though.

In the WEABL South, Oaklands will need to beat Barking by ten or more next week to claim the head-to-head between the sides.

Otherwise the South's order will be CoLA one, Copleston two, Barking three and the Wolves in fourth.

W/EABL Playoff Structures

Player-of-the-week candidates 

Derby's Elias Norman (30pts, 10reb, 6ast) came up big to help the Trailblazers secure a post-season spot, countering an 11-point, nine-rebound, three-assist, three-steal effort from SGS' Kevin Ramirez Mora.

Twenty five points from Tom Richardson kept Manchester on course for the EABL North title, with solid support from Demi Babalola (13pts, 7reb, 5ast, 8stl, feature image) against BMet.

Myerscough are keeping Magic on their toes, with 'Sco's latest win coming courtesy of Olivier Esingle (18pts, 7reb, 5ast, 3blk). Ethan Round's 17 points were the standout for Itchen against Barking, and Andrew Nwokolo (15pts, 10reb) was on double-double duty for CoLA against Oaklands.

In the WEABL, Tiarna Chambers-Desmond (18pts, 12reb, 3ast, 7stl) stuffed the stat sheet against MK5D, Isabelle Dalmedo (26pts, 13reb, 2stl, 2blk) was on form against BMet, and 19 points apiece from Kamilah Yakabu and Jess Jolley helped BA ease past Itchen.
