FIBA Foundation now funding 'Basketball For Good' projects

• The FIBA Foundation has launched its annual call for Basketball For Good projects through its Propose a Project platform 2026.
• Supported projects will receive financial, equipment and/or mentoring support and join the wider Basketball For Good community, with additional opportunities for exchange.
• Each applicant is entitled to submit one project proposal across the areas of Health & Wellbeing, Gender Equality, Refugees & Displaced People, People with Disabilities and Climate Action.
• The application window is now open, and closes on 1 March 2026.

The FIBA Foundation has launched its annual call for Basketball For Good projects through its Propose a Project platform 2026.

After its most impactful edition to date in 2025, with 73 supported projects from 58 different countries, FIBA's aim is to further enhance the initiative’s global social impact in 2026.

The objective of the Propose a Project platform is to continuously enlarge the Basketball For Good family by assisting projects using basketball to address the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and to use basketball as a tool for positive change in society.

How to propose a project

The FIBA Foundation's project guidelines outline the following four objectives for 2026:

1. To sustainably grow, develop, and amplify the global Basketball For Good movement.
2. To support National Federations and organisations who are committed to using Basketball For Good in their respective communities.
3. To build long-term partnerships with key stakeholders of the Basketball For Good movement.
4. To promote FIBA’s strategic objectives, including "Women in Basketball", "Empower National Federations", and "Develop Youth Basketball".

Applicants must submit an application aligning with the criteria outlined in the official application guidelines (available via the button below), and provide a letter of support from their respective National Federation.

Propose A Project Platform

Timelines and additional information

Since its inception six years ago, The FIBA Foundation's Propose A Project has supported 206 applications across 99 counties, and over 13,000 basketballs have been distributed as well.

2026 projects can be proposed until the deadline on 1 March 2026, with applications then being considered until May 2026.

Successful applicants will be informed in June 2026, with projects expected to take place between July 2026 and December 2026.

Whilst Propose a Project has grown to encompass 'Her World, Her Rules' (HWHR) initiatives in some areas (Africas, the Americas, Asia, and Oceania), European Federations and organisations are not eligible to submit HWHR proposals as part of Propose A Project.

A separate communication will be sent about HWHR for European Federations in the near future.
