Future Stars 2026: Fine third place for England U16s; fourth for U18s - results, streams & gallery
England U16s Boys came third at the Future Stars 2026 tournament, with the U18s finishing fourth.
Taking place at Brunel University between 28 and 30 August, the event boasted an impressive line-up with both England teams facing strong junior talent from across Europe.
The U16s England team lead by head coach Anthony Reed delivered a fantastic result in their third-place playoff, snatching bronze from Latvian outfit Pardaugava Academy, 93-81.
England's big man Blake Ellis, who had a double-double of 22 points and 20 rebounds, captured the feeling of the team after claiming third in his post-game interview, "We deserve this win because we're all U14s [playing in a higher age group] and we all wanted to show why we deserve to be here; we're actual prospects and we're here to win."
In the U18 category, head coach Antony Distras' England Men just missed out on replicating their younger counterparts, losing 86-100 to the junior squad of former EuroLeague powerhouse Alba Berlin, to finish fourth.
Fahad Saeed was the standout player in that game scoring 26 points and grabbing 10 boards for a 30 efficiency rating. Also battling above their age range, Distras' side were U16s playing up and acquitted themselves admirably.
Organised by Future Stars in partnership with Basketball England, the free-to-enter tournament also held a national coaching clinic on the Saturday.
The tournament has long served as a platform for young players to gain high-level international exposure on home soil.
