GB Women set course for EuroBasket 2027 with leadership team confirmed

The pair, who stepped into the roles on an interim basis earlier this year, will continue to lead the programme following a positive first international window together in March. Great Britain secured progression to the next stage of qualifying and laid the foundations for the programme’s long-term direction both on and off the court.

Great Britain has been drawn into a challenging qualification group alongside France, Ukraine and Luxembourg, with the next window set to take place in November. It sets up a testing but exciting pathway for the programme, as they look to build on the momentum generated in the previous qualification window and secure a place at EuroBasket once again.

Coach Patel said:

“I’m excited to continue as Head Coach of the senior women’s team as we head into a crucial period of Women’s EuroBasket 2027 qualifying. Our first window together in March was very positive, and we’ve already laid some strong foundations for the direction we want to take this programme.

“This group has the potential to compete with the best teams in Europe, and the next phase of qualification against France, Ukraine and Luxembourg gives us a great opportunity to show that. The summer will still be an important period for us to stay connected with players, monitor progress and build alignment around how we want to play ahead of the November window.

“I’m proud to work with this group and grateful for the opportunity to continue building with players and staff alike. We’re fully focused on pushing this programme forward and representing Great Britain with pride, passion and purpose every time we step on the court.”

Allen, a former Great Britain international who transitioned into an operational role with the programme earlier this year, will continue as General Manager after helping oversee the team through a successful first camp and qualification window.

Allen said:

“Representing Great Britain is always special, and I’m proud to continue in my role as General Manager for the senior women’s team as we go into a key phase of qualification.

“There’s a real sense of momentum in this group. The spirit has been great and reflected the high standards and dedication of both the players and staff on and off court.

“We know the challenge ahead will be significant but we are all in this together. We believe we have a group capable of competing with the best teams in Europe. We will be doing everything possible to give us the strongest possible chance of qualifying for EuroBasket 2027.”
