Glasgow 2026: Saturday report, scores, gallery and more
Team England began their Commonwealth Games 2026 journey with six games across Saturday's action.
With the men and women playing three games apiece, the start of the weekend provided both sides with the opportunity to gain real momentum as they look flex their credentials in Glasgow.
England's men got their gold medal defence off to a perfect 3-0 start, with the women dropping their final game of the day against New Zealand to leave themselves at 2-1 after the opening action.
After a day off on Sunday, England's pool games are set to conclude on Monday with another four contests.

Women’s 3x3 Basketball Pool B - England 22-7 Singapore
England got the day off to a winning start with a commanding 22-7 victory against Singapore.
Coach Hopkins-Chery's side were made to work early, leading 6-5 after an even opening three minutes, but a 9-0 run ballooned England's lead to 15-5 before their opponents could trouble the scorers again.
Shanice Beckford-Norton impressed with nine points, hitting 7/11 shots that included 2/2 from long range to go with nine boards. Georgia Gayle found plenty of joy on the drive to score seven, and England's defensive efforts held Singapore to 28% shooting in reply.

Men’s 3x3 Basketball Pool B - England 22-16 Jamaica
A physical opening men's contest went the way of England as they edged out Jamaica 22-16.
Their opponents game plan was clear, winning the rebounding battle 15-10 and collecting six offensive boards, but inside might couldn't overcome long-range accuracy as England netted 16 of their 22 points from beyond the arc.
Evan Walshe (9pts) and Dwayne Lautier-Ogunleye (8pts) hit three doubles apiece, with both men contributing buckets that helped turn an early 8-3 deficit into a 12-10 lead.
Tied up again at 16-16, the defending champs would enjoy all of the games final six points to get their title defence up and running with a win.
Men’s 3x3 Basketball Pool B - England 21-13 Fiji
England's men continued their perfect start to the tournament with a 21-13 victory against Fiji.
Pushing the Fijians into early foul trouble, England were able to supplement their 12/17 shooting from inside the arc with seven shots from the free throw line, creating a steady stream of offence to get themselves the win.
It was a change of tack from Coach Joseph's side after they primarily went to work from long-range in their opening victory over Jamaica.
Lautier-Ogunleye took all seven of the side's shots from the charity stripe, drawing some heavy defensive attention as he drove to the rim at will, using 4/4 1pt shooting to finish with a game-high 13 points.
England dominated the glass to win that battle 21-10, led by Ashley Hamilton's nine boards.

Women’s 3x3 Basketball Pool B - England 14-9 Scotland
England's women struggled to find their best form against the Auld Enemy, but still came away with a 14-9 win.
A scrappy contest where neither team really hit their stride, England's 47% shooting still trumped Scotland's 31% to quiet a strongly partisan crowd.
Battling the height of Scotland's Kirsty Brown, forward Cheridene Green produced her best performance of the young tournament to close with a game-high seven points and five rebounds.
More importantly, she also limited Brown to just a single point as the rest of the England quartet all chipped in to edge the contest in the end.
Men’s 3x3 Basketball Pool B - England 21-9 Kenya
England finished their first day at Glasgow 2026 in the same way they ended at Birmingham 2022, unbeaten, following a 21-9 victory over Kenya.
Their offence didn't always click, but it hit the right notes often enough to help them past their African opponents in the race to 21.
Their attack was a balanced one, with Lautier-Ogunleye (8pts), Walshe (7pts) and Jamell Anderson (6pts) all sharing the load, helping England to a tie at the top of Pool B with 3-0 Malaysia with the duo set to go head-to-head on Monday afternoon.
Women’s 3x3 Basketball Pool B - England 12-21 New Zealand
Team England fell just short of completing a perfect 6-0 opening day as the women's side dropped their final contest 21-12 against New Zealand.
A physical encounter where England had to work through a barrage of off-ball screens, the Kiwis enjoyed a game-high 11 points from forward Sharne Pupuke-Robati as she made the defending silver medalists pay by going 6/6 from the foul line.
Shooting 75% to England's 44%, NZ were also able to profit from a long-range drought that saw coach Hopkins-Chery's quartet go 1/8 (13%) from downtown.
Gayle (5pts) and Green (4pts) led England's attack, who now need pool leaders New Zealand to drop both of their remaining contests against Scotland or Singapore on Monday if they're to secure top spot and a bye through to the semi-finals.
