Glasgow 2026: Tuesday's Play-In games, report, scores, gallery and more

Tuesday's play-in game for a spot in the semi-finals went the way of the Caribbean side by the narrowest of margins, 21-20, to end England's hopes of defending their 2022 silver medal.

The men still remain, with New Zealand now waiting in Wednesday's semi-final as the team try to keep their unbeaten streak in Glasgow alive.

Women’s 3x3 Basketball Play-In game - England 20-21 Jamaica

Team England suffered heartbreak against Jamaica as they lost out 21-20 in dramatic circumstances.

The fans in attendance at Glasgow's SEC were treated to a truly back-and-forth contest fitting of the occasion, but sadly the breaks didn't go the way of Coach Hopkins-Chery's side when it mattered most.

Coming in as Pool A's third seed to England's second spot in Pool B, Jamaica refused to play up to their pre-match billing as they led for most of the game, including 10-6 after a little less than four minutes of play.

England battled back, as they did later in the game, to tie things up at 10, before Jamaica again surged ahead 14-10.

A double from Shanice Beckford-Norton (9pts, 5reb) and another basket from Cheridene Green (5pts, 6reb) helped tie the game back up, injecting some rare production from range on an evening when England shot just 3/14 from beyond the arc.

From there, the game's biggest moments would take place at the foul line.

With both sides passing the seven foul threshold and giving up two shots per violation, both sides traded blows to tie at both 18-18 and 20-20.

Back-to-back doubles from Beckford-Norton and Georgia Gayle (6pts) gave England all the momentum leading into the final moments, but the pendulum would swing back the other way seconds later.

Jamaica's Tiffany Reynolds drove to the basket and Beckford-Norton was whistled for the foul. Given the pressure, Reynolds could be forgiven for missing the mark on both free throws, providing yet another late twist and unexpected hope for England's watching faithful.

A scramble for the rebound ensued, and once again the officials stepped in, this time penalising Green for her attempts to give England one last shot to move into Wednesday's semi-finals.

Where Reynolds faltered, Teneisia Brown didn't, missing her first effort but sinking the second to break England's hearts and send Jamaica jubilantly into the next round.
