Great Britain confirm men’s and women’s 3x3 squads for Europe Cup Qualifiers

Following an intensive preparation camp in Sheffield, newly-appointed head coaches Julius Joseph MBE and Kenrick Liburd have selected the four-player rosters that will represent GB as both teams seek qualification for September’s Finals in Belgium.

The qualifiers represent a significant opportunity for the GB programme, with both teams aiming to secure places at the Finals in the same year for the first time.

Preparations in Sheffield brought together a group of players from across the home nations, with the camp providing an opportunity for both coaching staffs to assess talent, build chemistry and establish their identities ahead of a crucial week of competition.

Joseph, who was appointed Great Britain Men’s 3x3 Head Coach earlier this month, praised the work completed during camp and believes his team is ready for the challenge ahead.

“We’ve had an excellent preparation period in Sheffield and I’m really pleased with the commitment, energy and professionalism shown by all of the players,” he said.

“Selecting a final four is never easy given the quality we have within the programme, but we’re excited by the group heading to Romania and the talent we have coming through competing for their spot in future rosters.

"The roster we’ve selected has earned this opportunity and now our focus turns to performing at our best and competing for qualification for Europe Cup this week.”

Liburd echoed those sentiments after overseeing his first training camp since being appointed Women’s 3x3 Head Coach.

“The camp in Sheffield has been hugely valuable in bringing the group together and laying the foundations for what we want to achieve as a programme both now and in the future,” he said.

“The players have embraced the challenge, competed hard and shown the qualities needed to succeed in 3x3. We’re excited by the squad we’ve selected and looking forward to testing ourselves against some of Europe’s best teams in Romania as we compete to qualify for Europe Cup once again.”

The FIBA 3x3 Europe Cup Qualifiers present one of the toughest tests in international 3x3 basketball, with Europe widely regarded as the strongest region in the world in the discipline.

Great Britain’s men’s and women’s teams will travel to Romania aiming to build on recent progress and continue raising the nation’s profile on the international 3x3 stage.
