Great Britain junior team coaching and staff confirmed for summer schedule

Great Britain Basketball has confirmed the coaching and support staff that will lead its four junior national teams into FIBA European Championship action this summer, with preparations now underway for another exciting international campaign.

The U16 Boys, U16 Girls, U18 Men and U18 Women will represent Great Britain in Division B competition across Europe over the coming weeks, as the nation's brightest young talents continue their development on the international stage.

The U18 Men will be led by Head Coach Alan Keane, alongside assistants James Bamfield and Chris Kindlen. Team Manager Mike Langston and physiotherapist Dan Garvey complete the staff group.

Kenrick Liburd is confirmed as Head Coach of the U18 Women. He will be supported by assistant coaches Cristina Stanciuca and George Walker, with Leah Page serving as Team Manager and Wura Ijelu as physiotherapist.

The U16 Men’s programme will be led by Head Coach Liam Jefferson, assisted by Charlie Haynes and Jacob Dearman. Mark Lloyd has been appointed Team Manager, with Paul Jegede joining the staff as physiotherapist.

Lauren Milligan will take charge of the U16 Girls, supported by assistant coaches Shanice Turner and Michael Lyall. Charlotte Redhead will serve as Team Manager, while Ben Pogmore completes the staff as physiotherapist.

The summer begins with the FIBA U18 EuroBasket 2026 Division B tournament in Croatia, where Keane's side will face Belgium, Finland, the Netherlands and Cyprus in Group C.

Liburd's U18 Women follow shortly afterwards in Romania, taking on Slovakia, Greece, North Macedonia and Denmark in Group D as they look to build on the programme's continued progress at youth level.

Attention then turns to the Under-16 age groups, with Jefferson's boys travelling to North Macedonia to compete against Denmark, Austria, Hungary and Estonia in Group C.

The U16 Women complete Great Britain's summer programme in Greece, where Milligan's side will face Iceland and Norway in a three-team Group F.

The summer campaign represents another important opportunity for Great Britain's emerging talent to gain valuable international experience against some of Europe's leading young players, while continuing the development pathway towards the senior national teams.
