Solent landed a potential knockout blow to Barnet in the race for top spot in Pool B, with Worcester also moving into pole position in Pool A.

Standout performances

Solent edged the game of the weekend, going to Pool B title rivals Barnet and nabbing a 64-62 win despite leading by as many as 17 midway through the third quarter.

Rob McCowan's triple with 3:48 to go tied things up at 60 and gave the hosts plenty of momentum, but late buckets from Jakub Ofman and Ashley Briggs helped the Kestrels fend off Barnet's comeback attempt.

Barking's 74-52 victory over London Lions II keeps BA in the hunt, but like Barnet, Abbey need Solent to slip up in order to have a late shot at top spot.

Myerscough's 84-66 tip to buzzer victory over Manchester all but ended Magic's title push, though the North West side still reeled off a 93-75 win against St Helens on Sunday to end their weekend on a high.

Saturday's result keeps Myerscough in the title race with BCU, but both teams are chasing Worcester after the Wolves eased to a 78-62 W against Leicester on Sunday afternoon.

What does it mean for the standings? 

Worcester, BCU and Myerscough all have five losses in Pool A, though the Wolves own the head-to-head tiebreak with both teams to make them as favourites for the title.

A win in their final game of the season on Sunday, away to St Helens, would confirm Worcester as champs, as would Myerscough and BCU picking up one more loss each as the pair also go head-to-head next Sunday as well.

Results over the weekend mean that a 30-point, 15-win team will miss the D1M playoffs, with five teams (Worcester, Myerscough, Manchester, BCU and Sheffield Arrows) all still battling it out for four playoff places. That mark could still rise over the last few games of the season, showing the level of quality across the competition this campaign.

One more win for Solent across their last two contests with CoLA and London Stars will allow the Kestrels see off Barnet's title challenge, but not owning the head-to-head tiebreaker against Barking means BA can keep pushing the current leaders all the way to the finish line.

Player-of-the-week candidates 

Andre Gayle (21pts, 5reb, 4ast) helped Liverpool past Oxford Hoops, cancelling out a pair of sizable double-doubles from Jamie Cummins (14pts, 18reb) and Patrick Wrencher Jr (21pts, 15reb).

Twenty five points from Andre Arissol pushed Solent to their win, with Ashley Briggs (12pts, 8reb) putting together an efficient performance in support to counter Barnet's Dreyshun Brown (15pts, 5reb, 4ast, 4stl).

Mahamud Ibrahim (24pts, 10reb) clocked a double-double for Sheffield Arrows, and it was a timely stat-line as Macaulay Jones (29pts) tried to push Cardiff to an upset.

CoLA's Alei Wol (18pts, 19reb) was also on double-double duty, Kervy Mabaya (21pts, 8reb) was the standout for BA against London Lions II, and Earl Burgess (31pts, 12reb) kept Worcester's title challenge on course.

Daniel Davies (22pts, 13reb) and Aaron Bile (25pts, 9reb) both went big for Manchester on Sunday, with St Helens' Disraeli Lufadeju (22pts, 8reb vs MCR, 27pts, 7reb) playing well across the weekend despite a pair of losses.
