Patel names GB Women’s long-list for first window as head coach
With a crucial international window just a couple of weeks away, newly-minted Great Britain Women’s head coach Krumesh Patel has named a 22-player ‘long list’ as preparations begin for the FIBA Women’s EuroBasket 2027 Qualifiers.
GB face a demanding trio of fixtures, starting with a challenging trip to face Switzerland in Fribourg, before returning to Manchester to take on Austria and Norway in quick succession on 14 and 17 March.
With every game carrying weight in a competitive qualifying group, the window represents a significant opportunity for the programme to build momentum and continue its long-term growth.
The 22-player squad reflects a blend of experience and emerging talent, giving Patel - named as head coach last month - and his staff valuable flexibility as they assess form, fitness and combinations ahead of naming the final roster for the games.
As the countdown begins, attention turns to preparation, competition and the challenge of translating potential into results on the court - with GB aiming to take another positive step forward in their EuroBasket 2027 qualifying campaign.
Reflecting on the roster, Patel said:

“We’ve returned many from the November window and welcomed back some familiar faces into the fold, and as a staff we’re excited to see how it all comes together. Everyone is determined to do well and continue our push towards qualifications for EuroBasket."
