Tiverton Titans set their sights on record-breaking attempt
Tiverton Titans are aiming to bring the community together in their bid for a Guinness World Record.
Based in Devon, the Titans will attempt the Guinness World Record for the most basketball lay-ups completed in 24 hours during a community event at Blundell’s School, Tiverton, on 11/12 July 2026.
While the record attempt promises to be a remarkable sporting challenge, the club says the event is about far more than a place in the record books.
Founded to create opportunities for local people through basketball, the Titans run youth development sessions, a men’s programme and community activities designed to encourage physical activity, teamwork, confidence and positive mental wellbeing.
The club has recently expanded its youth programme, providing dedicated training opportunities for children and young people aged 10–17, helping them develop skills both on and off the court.
Head coach George Sinclair said: "The world-record attempt is really a celebration of what grassroots sport can achieve.
"We see first-hand the positive impact basketball has on young people, giving them confidence, friendships, structure and a sense of belonging.
"This challenge is about bringing the whole community together and showing what can happen when people support each other."

The event will bring together players, coaches, families, volunteers, supporters and members of the military community, all united by a shared commitment to teamwork, perseverance and community spirit.
For many involved, sport plays an important role in supporting mental wellbeing, providing positive social connections and helping people build resilience.
The Titans hope the event will inspire more children, young people and adults across Devon to become involved in grassroots sport.
The club is inviting local residents to attend, support the challenge and see first-hand the positive impact community sport can have.
Sinclair added: "Basketball is growing in Devon, and we want every young person to know there is a place for them within our club.
"Whether they want to compete, get active, make friends or simply try something new, we want to create opportunities for them."
