W/EABL Players of the Week (14 Jan 2026)

You can have your say on this week’s selections and give a shout-out to the players you think deserve one on the Academy League channels.

How it works

Each week, a standout player plus four other worthy selections will be put forward to make the Player and Team Of The Week in both the EABL and WEABL, paying attention to the following criteria:

• Efficiency
• Stats
• Team and opposition strength
• Periods of influence in the game
• Being on a winning team (exceptional performances from players on losing teams will be considered for TOTW)

Players of the Week

There's a maiden EABL winner and a back-to-back WEABL recipient for this week's individual awards.

After helping SGS College to their second win of the season, pushing them into the playoff mix in the process, Kevin Ramirez Mora is this week's EABL winner.

Taking the contest 77-67, Mora dropped a team-high 20 points on an efficient afternoon, hitting 8/14FGs (57%, a team-high) to go with 12 boards plus a trio of steals and assists.

The win was a big one for SGS's season as they try to move towards the post-season for the first time since 2014/15, and Mora's efforts were key to that this week.

Speaking about the performance, the forward said: "I'm really pleased that we managed to get the win. I always keep up my faith in God and try to do the best for my team-mates, who are always supporting and encouraging me."

SGS head coach Chris Bourne added: "Kevin has put a lot of work in to get to the point where is now. He has improved so much and these types of performances are a testament to his commitment and work ethic."

The WEABL nod goes to Copleston forward Holly Ensoll after her dominant performance in the 87-28 win over Itchen.

Getting revenge on the South coast programme for their win over Copleston to open the season, Ensoll and Co rolled over the 2022/23 finalists thanks to a 23-point, 20-rebound double-double from the talented forward.

Both marks were game-highs, as were seven blocks on defence, as Itchen had no answer for the 6'6" standout at either end of the court.

Speaking about her performance, Ensoll said: "It was great to get the win against Itchen. Coach [Drane] stressed the need to make sure we had the head-to-head after losing to them earlier in the season and we took that on board and were really locked in.

"It’s great to win this award, but as always, this is a team game and I don’t get this recognition without the rest of the team."

Copleston head coach Nick Drane added: "Holly was dominant once again, showing off her ever-growing skill set and feel for the game.

"She sets the tone for us at the defensive end of the floor and is getting better every week."

Mora's big week sees him joined by a pair of standouts from the EABL North's top of the table clash between Myerscough and Manchester.

'Sco's Zach Trezvant was a monster on the glass, collecting eight on offence alone as part of his 17 total as the visitors won the rebounding battle 66-32 on the way to a 78-71 victory.

Magic's Demi Babalola stuffed the stat sheet with a double-double in reply. His efforts couldn't secure the win but do allow him to slot into this week's five.

Marley Edwards collected a game-high 23 points on 11/14 shooting (78%) for Itchen in their road win over Copleston, adding six rebounds for extra value, and Oaklands' Liam McIntosh kept his hot form going with a strong outing in the Wolves' 91-62 W against HHS.

POTW Ensoll welcomes team mate Kaiya Bateman to this week's five as the Copleston standout also enjoyed a solid stat line in the victory over Itchen.

Manchester's Paige Jagger was the driving force behind the Mystics' 77-50 victory against BMet, claiming a game-high for points and rebounds to help her side navigate a strong showing from Aida Badiane, who performed admirably in defeat for the winless Rockets.

That leaves Nottingham's Kyrah Johnson to round out the line up following her efforts against Sheffield, offering up a well-rounded stat line that included an eye-catching nine steals.
