WNBL D1 Preview (7/8 Feb 2026) - Live Stats, streaming, schedule and more

There are seven games across the weekend, with a rarity that Sunday's games outnumber Saturday's contests.

Anglia Ruskin, Bromsgrove and London Cavaliers are all on double-header duty, providing the trio with an opportunity to build some momentum if results go their way.

Playoff vibes

As is often the case towards the end of the regular season, attention gradually begins to turn to the playoffs and the glory that awaits for whoever can navigate their run unscathed.

Late-season contests can provide an exciting window into what's to come, and this weekend is no exception.

Worcester's trip to Anglia Ruskin certainly fits the bill on that front, with the Wolves' injury woes and a two-point deduction both serving to misrepresent their strength this season. A road trip to a top-four opponent is certainly something that D1W fans can look forward to, and how both teams measure up.

Brent hosting CoLA is another potential opening round playoff tie, with both teams able to size each other up before another prospective meeting next month.

Life is tough at the bottom

There are no easy games in D1W, but when a team is struggling and in need of a win, certain fixtures are tougher to face than others.

At 2-12, newly-promoted Bromsgrove have six games left to avoid a potential return to D2W at the first time of asking. Two of those contests come this weekend, but knocking off top-four contenders Ipswich and current leaders London Cavaliers is a tough ask for any team.

Likewise, fellow relegation candidates Loughborough have to entertain title-chasing Manchester, another difficult task.

Even the sides just outside the potential drop-zone, London All Stars and Bristol Flyers, both have tricky games, with the All Stars hosting the Cavs on Saturday and Bristol welcoming ARU on Sunday.

Time is running out for teams to make a move and secure their D1W spot for 2026/27, but this weekend might not be the time to make it into a reality.
